Description
I. Introduction Postcolonialism has appeared as one of the leading discourses in the social and human sciences (Babhha, 1994; McClintock, 1992; Stuart, 1996). It has been widely discUSsed and researched in literary criticism (Aschcroft, Griffiths, & Tiffin, 1989; Said, 1985; 1993; Slemon, 1987), history (David & Victor, 2000), multiculturalism (Harding, 1998), postmodernism (Hutcheon, 1989), and feminism (Mohanty, 1984; Spivak, 1990). Postcolonialism has also been extended into curriculum studies and pedagogy (Aegerter, 1997; Lather, 2004; MaCintyre & Heble, 2002; Myrsiades, K., & Mcguire, J. 1995). Lather (1992, 2004) seems to include "postcolonialism" as a major inquiry topic in the paradigm of deconstruction. Pinar et.al. (1995) opened the possibility of discUSsing postcolonialism in the field of curriculum theory by introducing phrases such as "deconstructed" and "postmodern" text. Further, Pinar (2003) acknowledged the importance of understanding curriculum knowledge across cultures and nations through the concept of "internationalization of curriculum studies.
